Lore and Mythology of

The legacy of our interactions
and preoccupations with the wolf
is manifested in a distinct dichotomy,
much reflecting the ironic contrasts of
our dual nature. Our collective history:

as much as it is adorned with the evidence of
artistic, creative, and reverential tendencies,
the evolutionary path which we are travelling is
also being littered by our capacity for dissimulating
hatreds, indulgent devastation, and wanton destruction.

In many respects, an in-depth and thoughtful exploration
of the un-natural rather than natural history of Wolves,
becomes a jouney into our own nature, pysche, attitudes ..
and, it is to be hoped .. that embarking on such a journey
ultimately leads to an appreciation and an understanding
more compassionate than human history so far indicates.

Substance of Wolf Mythology is both ancient & complex,
but mirroring and owing to our dual nature, there is that
distinct dichotomy running through it, throughout recorded
history. For that reason, we trace the 'Mythology of Wolves'
along two very different sets of tracks, in separating the Myths
that have contributed to our decimation of the wolf, from Wolf Lore
that arises from fascination, reverance, and identification with wolves.
